Tuesday night

Last night was lovely! The air was perfect, I was happy with my outfit, and I was able to spend quality time with friends and family!

I started at New Star in River Forest. New Star is a fun, cheap, and delish!! We go every year for my Grandma's bday and this year was her 80th...kinda a big deal! I have a huge family, so it was nice to eat bad and talk good.

After New Star we went to Danny's, a small bar on Dickens and Damen. I love Danny's, it's small, humble, and cute. The music is generally pretty good, too chill for my taste last night, but usually good! It was nice to be out and about last night, and good to see all my friends.

National Geographic-China issue

I was reading the new National Geographic, China issue..I have yet to finish, it was really interesting and filled with lots of cool info.
I have to comment on a photo, well several photos that I was kinda into.
Over a year ago, at Columbia Chicago, the museum of modern photography was hosting and exhibit called "Made in China"..the photography was all SO beautiful, and ascetically pleasing for being such a disgusting topic. Anyway, three photographers were represented..one installation remains fresh in my mind..
Michael Wolf! He was awesome, he filled the walls and ceiling with toys all made in China. Aside from his kick ass installation, his photos were great! I love pinks, sea foams and yellows, it was all so beautiful!
As I said, this issue was worth checking out, and so is Michael wolf!

Here are some other images that I dug..

Li Feng: Animal
the animals in this photo are in the process of being shipped away to science

The Baby that leaves from the earth: Li Wei

Jovovich Hawk

I read about them before, but just got back from the site. Jovovich Hawk! I lovvvve it! It's bohemian, modern, disco, granny-chic, everything! The website is nice and easy too! Check it out.

Tea tins and flowers

I love this idea:)

Avec

I went to Avec on Wed. with Kelly and Brady..I was in a super stale mood the entire day, but felt much better after a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives! Kelly is always fun, and I'm realizing Brady is pretty cool too! We had a nice time, you can't go wrong with good conversation and good food. Avec is cool, the decor is minimal, but visually stimulating, the service is awesome, the food is interesting, and the set-up is unique. We went to town, but the two best dishes we got were the flat bread and the dates! yummie:)

I'm feelin' it

I'm totally into this room! I have spent two years buying knick-knacks for my apt all under a specific color wave; however, this picture has made me question my current taste..or perhaps my interior design ideas are evolving?? Whatever the case may be, I really dig the hot pink and forest green! Green can be super drab, but the pink glams it up, and I love the picture arrangement on the wall. Good stuff:)

another amazing print

I have been so impressed with the prints happening this spring, and I hate that I always mention Marc Jacobs; however, this print is HANDS DOWN! My fave:)I was returning merchandise at work the other day and noticed this at the 28 Shop in Macy's state. I'm into the dress, but not i love like I am with the pattern. The length is a tad too long for my taste, but still nice. He also had a similar silhouette with an amazing swan print..super fly!

Mayle

When in NYC, Liz (of Eskell) introduced me to a line I did't know of: Mayle. Her designs and use of colors were BEAUTIFUL! It was fairly similar to the designs at Eskell. These photos don't do the clothing justice...

I love you airlines

I feel in love with NYC this weekend..I went with Liz and Kelly. My friends and also the owners of Eskell, aka the most kick ass place in all of chi-town.

We went to Union pool after a totally delish dinner, and playing was I LOVE YOU AIRLINES. They rocked the house, I was totally into it. The lead had amazing energy, and the drummer had amazing hair.

Maybe I don't get out enough? But I have never seen a performance like this. My new number one #####1!

Melissa

This weekend I worked STYLEMAX at the Chicago Merchandise Mart, It was hectic as hell..but I discoverd a new shoe line that I'm a big fan of. MELISSA! Really cute. Most the shoes are made from rubber, so they are totally specific. Only few pair I would really wear out, but they are the perfect fashionable and functional shoe for my crazy window job.

MGMT

I got dinner with Lindasy last night (aka the music doctor) at OPART. As always it was super tasty. After that we went back to her place and she gave me a bunch of music. My fave was MGMT, their song "Electric feel" is number one!

The Raveonettes

My friends and I saw the Raveonettes last week! They played at The Double Door, which always brings in a few crazies, but is usually always fun. The lead singer is apparently into our Friend Laura Watson, who I am sad to see go off to LA. Dad-socks aka, my fave also came along. It was a fun group, all of which truly appriciated the music. I thought the show kicked ass. I had seen them once before, a long time ago when I lived in LA...I lovd them then, and love them now. I think their sound is totally unique. I could listen to each album in full, I really don't have the attention spand for that with most other bands. I highly reccomend them live!

Debonair Social Club..two thumbs down

After a long night of drinking, my friends and I decided to go to Debonair Social Club. This is the place all the under-age Chicago, herion chic bambinos go to feel like a NYC club kid. This was my third time going. One of the three have been good, but overall it's not my fave. I can understand why people would like there, I just rather something more hubmle..it was way too much of a scene.

What the DOC ordered

Doc Martens are hands down, the most nostalgic shoes I can think of. They bring me back to my early adolecent, rebelious phase in life when I would die my hiar pink, and smoke New Ports behind the 711.

I'll never forget my first pair, I saved my babysitting money for three months. They were red t-strap mary janes "air wair", so kick ass!

The pair below always has been, and always will be my fave. Floral is so rad right now too, I got these at the Salvation Army in perfect condition..too small:( eBay they go, to help fund my teeth. Like the Betsey's, I hope they find a happy home.

My Mom caught to the fact that I decided to jump back on the Doc wagon, she bought me these for xmas..love you mom:)

24

I turned 24 on the 4th. My actual bday was really nice! I was watching my aunts kids in the burbs, so my parents, brothers and sister and some of my extended family came over. We got about 10 pizzas from Girodonos and a Portillo's chocolate cake..so good. We all just sat around and told storiers. It's always nice to share your birthday with family.

My party was on Saturday, my good friend Mary and I did a combined party. We had all of our girl friends over to my place, then met some other friends out at the Burlington. Burlington was packed in the worst way, but overall it was a pretty fun night.

My younger, and under-aged sister came out, she was a total riot. Hands down the funniest person I know. She and all my friends got along really well. It was a fun time:)

I once read that during a recession lipstick sales increaset by 50%. Well, we are enterning a recession, and with in the past two months I have purchased two new lip colors. My new find has become my new fave! It's called Morange by MAC. Karyn also helped me with this one. This is the most vibrant lipstick I have ever worn..I totally dig it.

French Pumps

I adore these shoes, french pumps: Marc Jacobs collection
so pretty!

Cameo Kick

I love <3 Cameos right now! I just wish I had more. Silhouettes in general are beautiful. I have an arrangement of empty frames on the living room wall, and recently filled them with different silhouettes. The color palette matches the room, but I cut the silhouettes from a faux wood grain contact paper! It looks cute:) Now I need to find a way to get my hands on some damn cameos.

Bye Bye, Betsey

My current feeling is SICK and very sad:( Next week is my final dentist apt, and that means that I need to make my final payment. Because I took the liberty of living like a queen this summer, I have nothing saved. I do however, have clothing, and things of value. The beauty of buying nice things is that they always have the potential to make money back.

Today on eBay, I listed a beautiful pair of Betsey Johnson plastic aknle boots. I like Betsey, some of her stuff (most of it) is too young for me, but she still makes it work for others. I totally respect, always have and always will, what she does. I think these shoes are amazing! Contrasting material is super cool.

Though I only had the pleasure of wearing these shoes once, I have a very speical place in my heart for them. I'm really going to miss them, and I hope they find a very happy and thankfu home. They were a tad too big for me, to prevent further debt..it's just time.
